Burton's history with television presumably began in the early 1990s as a dialog writer for the Saban Entertainment television series, Mighty Morphy Power Rangers ("I'm Dreaming of a White Ranger", 1995), Power Rangers Zeo ("Mean Screen", 1996), adaptations of Super Sentai shows, Zyuranger and Ohranger.[1][2]
In 1999 Burton co-wrote the film Idle Hands with Ron Milbauer. The film was considered a financial and critical failure when it failed to gross back its $25 million budget. Burton also worked on the cancelled FOX Television series Point Pleasant.[1][2]
In 2005 both Milbauer and Burton wrote early episodes for the first season of Supernatural ("Wendigo" and Bloody Mary"). To date Milbauer and Burton's largest contributions to a series has been a number of four episodes for Eureka and Tucker.[1][2]
